Chef Alex Mobsby
British-born, Chef Alex Mobsby currently holds the position of Chef de Cuisine at the popular British seafood restaurant, Geales, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa.
Chef Alex, 26, is responsible for the overall kitchen management at the restaurant and is assisted by a strong team of 15 talented chefs, who together ensure the on-going delivery of exceptional high-quality food for in-house guests and visitors to the hotel. Chef Alex is responsible for designing and creating the latest menus, making sure that they are inline with the trends and changing demands of the UAE, as well as health and safety procedures within the restaurant and quality control.
Driven and determined, Chef Alex’s interest in cooking began at the tender age of six years old, when he took inspiration from his grandmother who was a fantastic cook, always creating new dishes and preparing meals in their hometown of Farnborough, United Kingdom. Chef Alex aspired to follow in his grandmother’s footsteps and his culinary journey began in 2005 where he took the position of Chef De Partie at luxury 5* hotel, One Aldwych, Covent Garden with a passion to become a professional chef. Driven by his love for honest British food and innovative cooking techniques, Chef Alex focused on creating simple yet delicious dishes guaranteed to leave diners feeling more than satisfied.
Throughout his career that spans over ten years, Chef Alex has worked in a number of high-profile culinary establishments, fine-tuning his talents in numerous hotels across the UK such as The Three Salmons hotel in USK, Beaufort Hotel in Raglan and The Aviator Hotel in Hampshire.
Moving swiftly up the culinary ranks, Chef Alex has worked in a number of prestigious restaurants including the Bluebird Restaurant in Chelsea, before venturing across seas to Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, Dubai in 2015 to expand his culinary career and take up the post as Chef de Cuisine of Geales Urban Seafood Restaurant & Lounge. Chef Alex has more than 10 years experience in the hospitality industry and is extremely passionate about the future of the restaurant and works hard to offer diners quality cuisine using only the highest quality sustainable ingredients, which he sources locally whenever possible. Chef Alex holds a Diploma in Professional Cookery and in his spare time, has a keen interest in high-performance cars and motorcycles.
